Trading in US equities

If you wish to trade in the US within an ISA or Investment Dealing Account, you will need to complete a W-8BEN form and return it to Alliance Trust Savings prior to trading. This will ensure the correct tax relief is applied on income paid from US stocks and shares. You can find this form and guidance on how to complete along with more information about how to return the form in our Investing in the United States webpage.

If you are a SIPP customer Alliance Trust Savings will complete a W-8BEN form on your behalf.

Risk Warnings

In addition where the investment is denominated in a foreign currency, the value of your investment and any income may rise or fall as a result of fluctuations in the underlying currency.
